Governance and Stewardship

How the independent revival will document authority, decisions, maintenance responsibilities, and its relationship to the original project.

1. Current stewardship

TwoSquares maintains the website, archive infrastructure, and revival planning. Historical copyrights and software licences remain with their respective authors and rights holders.

2. Governance commitments

  • •Publish the maintainer list and areas of responsibility.
  • •Record significant technical and policy decisions.
  • •Define how maintainers are added or removed.
  • •Separate project governance from commercial service interests.
  • •Disclose conflicts of interest relevant to project decisions.

3. GNU and FSF relationship

The historical archive documents work that formed part of the GNU free software ecosystem. The present revival is independent and must not be represented as endorsed by, appointed by, or officially affiliated with the GNU Project or Free Software Foundation unless such a relationship is formally confirmed.
